Food and Wine in Aspen
I was so excited to go up to the Food and Wine Classic in Aspen this year even though I was, sadly, not a ticketholder. I did get to prowl around and explore and take pictures, and the kids waited excitedly for a hopeful view of their heroes, though they didn’t actually see anyone. Except their dad!
While everyone was at the different seminars (Anton chose Japanese Knife Techniques with Iron Chef Morimoto), I peeked into the Grand Tasting Tent where they were getting set up for the crowds’ arrival.
They were getting set up at the grill, too. I kept watch from the playground while the kids were busy climbing….
Finally, the crowds appeared and the tent filled up in a matter of minutes!
Food and Wine tasting in action! The tent was filled with all sorts of delicious things, the smells of which wafted out to me and the kids, starving on the playground…actually, they were busy getting soaked playing in the fountain, but it sure smelled good!
One of the many beautiful offerings in the Grand Tasting Pavilion…
Anton with Mary Hayes, friend of his family since forever and documentarian of all things Aspen.
Finally, he came out, and we went to dinner at the Cantina, a local favourite and our kids’ choice for the evening!
The Cantina was doing and exceptional job of presentation this weekend…
Our chili rellenos were extra- beautiful this evening!
The chocolate mousse was lovely to look at, too, though it had a bit too much cinnamon in it for my taste. We all had a fun-filled afternoon, and Anton got to go back again the next morning!
