Getting Ready for Snowboarding Season

By inadvertentlydomesticated.com (Visit website)

Four years ago, my trainers at work taught me how to snowboard. A few years before that, Chef attempted to learn snowboarding. He broke his shoulder, and was horrified since. But when my trainers taught me, which included a lesson for Chef, it was only because he learned the wrong and hard way the first time that was why he was left disinterested with the sport. After 1 day of a good lesson, it was as if Chef had been snowboarding for years. After 1 day, I was able to get down the bunny slope on my own with a good speed. And after 1 day, I decided this was definitely going to be my winter sport. The first day, I borrowed everything, from the board to the boots to the coats and goggles. When we came home, I knew I needed my own stuff.

I invested on the right equipment. I didn’t quite believe in waiting to buy my own equipment until I was good at it. Nope, I wanted to learn with my own equipment already. I bought a nice Burton board, got the Flow straps, and a nice pair of K2 boots with the Boa. Equipments and snowboarding gear were imperative, especially as I get cold so easily. I ensured I had the warm clothing that was also thick enough to provide enough cushion when I fell. With this investment, I was good to go.

Chef and I have been hitting the slopes since then. We even took Ms C and Lil HRH with us on one occassion. However, last year, because we were preparing for the wedding and we wanted to make sure there were no broken bones on the most important day of our lives, Chef and I did not go up to the mountains at all. Not once. That will change this season. We’re preparing our equipments. I need to make sure I get my board waxed. We’re dusting off our boots. I think I’ll need a need a new jacket too, un anorak si’l vous plait! I was quite excited learning how to say “skijacket” in French. :) I’m also excited to bring Um and Captain Awesome! Time to channel our inner Shaun White’s peoples!!! Having said that, I’ll need to re-learn!
