Green Duck Saves the Day Contest

By My original recipes (Visit website)

So hubo and I have this ongoing battle. It is fierce and bitter, and often a few tears are shed whenever the issue comes up. I am not ashamed to say we have even considered going to counseling over the issue. However, it comes up, we battle and then the issue might not arise for another 3 months. So what is it that is driving such a wedge into our marital bliss?? Whenever we have a party the battle turns into whether to use paper plates or use every available plate in the house.

I have said it before, I am a lazy environmentalist. I wish I were a hard core environmentalist, maybe in my next life I will be, however, I am lazy one. I try to do what?s best, I swear, but every once in a while I forget to take my own bags to the grocery store, I forget to bring water for the kids while running errands and have to get bottled water, or I leave the lights on when I go out in the evening if I know Joel wont? be home cuz I am a scaredy cat. However, I do stand by using our real plates and Joel (who, to be fair, is typically the one that does the mountain of dishes after) fights desperately for paper. I, typically at some crucial point, whip out the guilt... the parental guilt... the this is your child?s planet guilt?

Checkmate.

However, a while back I was lucky enough to meet an amazing lady, that has become a wonderful friend. She owns a company called Green Duck Compostables. She started this one day after eating leftovers from a meal she had out. She looked around at the mound of take-home containers that housed just her leftovers from one meal and thought??uh,-oh.? and Green Duck was born.

She sells mostly to restaurants and products for events ( fairs and festivals). All her products are plant based and compostable. What is the big deal about that? Well, that means instead of your take home cups, sushi container, or to-go boxes adding to more of this?

they can be added to this?

And help grow this?

And this?

Silly thing is this, it never dawned on me, that I could go and buy her products for my own personal use, until? literally? today. Tristan?s 5th birthday is coming up, which means I know that Joel and I will have our battle yet again. However, this time, he will win, and he won?t ever have to know that I will too. It will be my little secret with you guys.

So is it as cheap as Dixie? No. However, for 25 bucks I get 50, paper plates, cups, forks, and knives. And really that 50 will get me through 2-3 gatherings. So it is really 8-12 bucks per gathering and that seems like a small price tag for ease that I don?t have to feel guilty about. Plus it adds to my compost, what more could a girl want?

So here is the contest. Lets help spread the word. Green Duck should be in our restaurants, it should be in our schools (they do compostable trays), they should be in our houses. I love this company. Sure, she is my friend. Absolutely, I love the girl, but truly I love the company. What can I say? I am a sucker for guilt free ease!

I am offering $75 cold hard cash, to whichever blogger can get the most of their followers to post a link to this post and a link to green duck http://www.shopgreenduck.com/index.htm. The two caveats are you have to get at least 10 people to link to qualify and you have to give me your totals and links to the site so I can verify. But hey, what a quick way to make $75. Just think of all the guilt free, veggie based, plates you can get:) I will end March 8th, so get to work!

And remember?. Buy Green. Make Compost. Grow Life.

p.s. the compost picture I got from google and is a Gemeent Lubbeek photo, and the landfill photo, again google, comes from Planet Green.
