Hot Tattie

By The Daily Spud (Visit website)

Ooh er, I seem to be developing a reputation as a bit of a hot potato.

And no, not the kind of hot potato that everyone wants to avoid, but the kind that wants to reach for some fancy fizz to celebrate.

Perrier Jouet Champagne

Perrier Jouët Champagne: a lubbly bit o' bubbly(and there was you thinking Perrier meant fizzy water)

Of course, I do have a reason for indulging in a little midweek celebration. You’ll find it right here, in the latest hot-off-the-presses issue of Ireland’s Food and Wine Magazine.

Food and Wine Hot 100

Food and Wine Magazine: The Hot 100 Issue

Amongst mentions in the magazine’s Hot 100 list for fabulous fellow bloggers Aoife McElwain from I Can Has Cook, Shiela Kiely from Gimme The Recipe, Kristin Jensen from Dinner du Jour, Aoife Carrigy from Holy Mackerel and the ever bright-eyed Donal Skehan, there is a spot in that list for little old me.

Food and Wine No 60

Et voilà, featuring at no. 60 in the list...

Cool or what, eh? (demonstrating neatly, and in a thermostat-defiant way, that it’s always cool to be hot and hot if you’re cool). It also reminds me that I shall, naturally, be wanting a pot of very hot spuds to go with that very cool bubbly.

What’s also hot, by the by, is the news that MasterChef is coming to Ireland, with Michelin-starred chef Dylan McGrath and restaurateur Nick Munier just announced as the two judges. Budding amateur chefs can apply here, from today until Wednesday 27th April, for the chance to become Ireland?s first MasterChef Champion, which carries with it a cash prize of ?25,000. And if I were a betting spud, I’d be putting money on the appearance of the winning chef in next’s years Hot 100.

Masterchef Ireland

Who will it be?
