Idiyappam Briyani - String hoppers

Yesterday My Husband invited his friend and his wife for dinner at our home.. I was confused a lot on what dish to prepare.. But I was sure that I have to make something with chicken. As the rice cooker I have is very small, can only cook for 2 adult and a baby:P.. So, I decided not to cook rice.. After thinking for a while.. I decided to make Chicken Idiyappam briyani.. hehe.. Idiyappam = String hoppers, A famous south indian food:P.. :P.. Juz gave a try and Woah!!! It turned out well and tasty:) Ingredients: Idiyappam - 10 ( tear into small pieces) Chicken - 5 to 6 pieces Curd- 4 tbsp full Coriander powder - 1 tsp Turmeric powder - a pinch Ginger Garlic paste - 1 tsp Coriander leaves - few (chopped) Onions - 1 large (sliced) Green chillies - 1 (chopped) Chilli powder - 1 tsp Coriander powder - 1 tsp Cinnamon - 2" stick. Bay leaf - 1 Cloves - 3 Cardamom - 2 Salt to taste Oil - 2 tbsp Butter - 1 tbsp Method to prepare: 1.Clean and chop chicken to required size. 2.Mix curd, chilli , coriander, turmeric powders, Mint and coriander leaves to the chicken, Let it marinate for 10 to 15 mins. 3. Pre- heat oil and butter and add the cardamom, cloves, bay leaf and cinnamon. 4.Then add in the Onions and sauté till they are brown in colour, add ginger garlic paste. Fry well. 5.Then add in the marinated chicken and cook on high flame for 5 mins and simmer till the oil comes out. 6.Finally add in the Idiyappam pieces and mix well. 7.Hot with Onion raita. related searches : Idiyappam
