Island Hollandaise Sauce and Coffee

A local restaurant called Bahama Grille started serving breakfast.

The Grille has changed a lot since it?s opening the summer of 2009. Originally it was supposed to be a quick stop type restaurant where you read the huge menu on the wall, wait in line and order at the counter. They made bowls and burgers, hoping to appeal to the high schoolers, and the near by court jurors who would be looking for a quick lunch.

Slowly the menu grew. Gourmet appetizers and sauces started appearing throughout the menu. The large menu was replaced by a local artist?s work and waitresses were seen bustling around the dining room taking orders and bringing drinks.

On Monday, last Monday, they served their first breakfast and my Dad was the first breakfast customer. We?ve known the Bahama Grille owner for years. Mike actually worked for my dad in the early 90?s, so we like supporting his business and go at least once a week.

This weekend we had to all show up in support of his latest idea.

The menu has a list of various Eggs Benedicts that was sort of impressive. I think there has to be 7 or 8 different types of Benedicts listed. After seeing this I needed to try one. I ordered the Vegetarian Eggs Benedict complete with Island Hollandaise sauce and home fries.

Island Hollandaise Sauce

1/2 c butter
3 large eggs
1 TBSP and 1 TSP lemon juice
1/8 tsp salt
dash paprika Jamaican jerk spice

That?s all it is. Jerk spice instead of paprika. After tasting I needed to know what made Hollandaise Sauce, Island Hollandaise Sauce. This, according to Mike and both my parents, was a very comical question.

All in all I think the Bahama Grille Breakfast Menu is here to stay. My breakfast was creative and tasty. I?d definitely want to go there for breakfast on the weekends.

He has a breakfast sandwich on the menu with sausage, cheese, and egg. I suggested he try making a sweet red pepper jam to add. Mike seemed pretty intrigued, maybe my idea will make an appearance on the menu.
