Kitchen Toys Aplenty

By inadvertentlydomesticated.com (Visit website)

My lovelies, Thanksgiving came and went, and my kitchen adventures for this one occasion brought success to the dining table. You’ll sure hear about the feast on the next Taste Buds post. But what I wanted to talk about here right now are the kitchen toys that make the arduous task of preparing such an important meal quite easy, even enjoyable.

We have pretty much everything that we need in our very good sized kitchen. Our Samsung fridge is a nice 26 cubic feet big with the French doors (see, even my fridge has a touch of French hehe), however, this occasion made me want to look into some freezers that we can put in the garage. With Chef’s perennial supply of frozen fruits and tortillas, we had to find room for the turkey and ham. Thankfully, with our skills in space management, we were able to accommodate the 18-lb bird for a couple of days, until it took up most of the space in the actual fridge when I was brining it.

I love our kitchen layout but in truth, I wish we had the opportunity to design the kitchen, more than the choice of floors that we were given when our house was being built. To start with, I’d change the cabinets for something more modern. For an occasion that is centered in cooking, I felt the need for the kitchen ranges that we adore that I see all the time at HGTV’s Bang For Your Buck when the homeowners do massive kitchen renovations. I want the one with at least 6 gas burners and a griddle, one that has a convection oven and even the broiler. I think there’s even one that has a rotisserie in. Then we’ll get the same sized hood instead of the microwave hood that we have right now that works good enough but could work even better. Although, the smell of the thyme-infused turkey that filled the house was really pleasant. I think there are those that come with grills too but of course, I believe grilling should be an outdoor thing, and we have plans for a nice one when we finally do our backyard.

I have no idea what has made me so domesticated like this to actually know what I’d want in the kitchen. Well, Chef, perhaps. It was hilarious when Tita Baby and Faja pulled up seats around the island and they were so amazed at the domesticated Ms B who is hosting the party. They said they would never have thought I would find myself spending a lot of time in the kitchen. LOL, it’s really all in the name of good food. :)
