Mango Thokku
This is a different side dish made out of unripe mangoes. I never tasted it before until MK prepared it.My MIL used to prepare it but he did not know the exact recipe, so he tried calling her but she did not pick up..After much thinking and showing off he made this. I was teasing him about the final outcome..But whenI tasted it, I simply loved it.I'm a great mango lover and I enjoyed this thokku with rice....It can be refrigerated and used for 4-6 days.
Mango thokku can be served with plain rice or as a side dish for any rice item. It makes its way toFestive Food: His Cooking Event at Indian Khana. Along with this I'm sending Vegetable Puff and Thai Red Curried Chicken Noodles to the event. Ingredients -------------- Mango - 1 no Grated Jaggery - 1/2 cup Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp Salt for taste Oil 2 tsp Method ------------ Wash, peel and cut the mango into small pieces. Add little water and salt and microwave the mango pieces for about 4-5 mins until it turns mushy. Heat oil, add mustard and allow it to splutter in medium flame. Add the turmeric powder and chilly powder and saute in low flame. Add grated jaggery, 2 tbps of water and saute for about 2 mins. Add the cooked mango and mix well.
