My name?s Sarah and I?m addicted to cookies
A lot’s been happening since I last stumbled on by. Probably the most significant development is the one above. That’s right, I am a cookie-aholic. More specifially, I’m addicted to the cookies featured in my last post. I need to stop making them but they’re just SO good! Dilemma. In other happenings, I am one essay down (woo hoo!), and just have one exam and 3 weeks of placement work until I am done with my 2nd year of my nursing degree. One year to go. Scary, but such a relief as the end is slowly coming to light, and that there will be no more of this: I’ve also had blog and food burnout. I haven’t wanted to think about blogging or creating recipes. Probably because there’s been too much going on. I’ve just wanted to “be” for a while, and have a life outside of my computer screen. As a result, we have watched way too much of The (American) Office and Scrubs. Some of you guys may remember that a while back I mentioned I was going for investigations as I haven’t had a period for what is now over a year. I was concerned that it was due to following a strictly vegan diet and being such a stresshead. But, as it turns out, I have been diagnosed with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). It’s kind of rubbish but at least I know what my problem is, and that it’s something out of my control. Oddly amenorrhea is my only symptom. I don’t suffer with acne, difficulty losing weight, and excess hair which are common symptoms. I’ve been put on a diabetes medication called Metformin which has been shown to return menstruation in a good number of women. Sorry if this is too much information for you all but I think sometimes it’s important to talk about these things so others who are going through similar issues don’t feel so alone. Oh, and it’s one of the most common causes of infertility in women. Even though Tom and I definitely don’t want children now, it’s a bummer that it may be extremely difficult further on down the line. Ok, enough of that. I am in a great mood because I have the weekend off after a week of night shifts and I am feeling optimistic. It helps that this is the first day that I have seen daylight all week. The serotonin and vit D are doing their work! Here are some other great things, I won some tea! Pukka Teas are an amazing tea company who make the most delicious blends of caffeine free teas. Honestly, I’m not getting paid for saying this, I love them. And they have a great website. Anyway, they recently had a competition to win their two latest teas “- Morning Time: Caffeine free, deliciously sweet and full bodied blend of organic rooibos, honeybush and red ginseng to kick start your day - Three Fennel: an aromatic and soothing blend or organic sweet fennel, wild fennels and fennel leaf. Lovely and calming!” And I was one of the winners! Amazing. I love foodie competitions. Speaking of which, Jemma of Celery and Cupcakes is giving away cases of 9-bar bars. Check it out. Natural Balance Foods sent me their new Nakd gluten-free bars:
(Image from The Habit Of Healthy) I particularly love the Berry Delight and Cocoa Delight bars; I’m not sure about the Cocoa Mint one. If you’ve tried them, which one is your favourite? Hmm, what else has been happening… A couple of my friends are pregnant with their first baby (I must be getting to that age). Wales are playing rugby against Australia this afternoon (can’t wait) and it’s X-Factor season. Life is good! Before I go, just want to say sorry I haven’t been commenting on my fave blogs recently. I’m still reading and loving them, I just haven’t had the time or energy to comment. That’ll change soon though, promise. Next time I’ll be back with delicious, vegan food (I’m still favouring vegan food even though I don’t live by the label). Have an awesome weekend related searches : Names
