Oat Groat Porridge with Apple, Almond and Date Puree
Oat groats are such a healthy and hearty way to start a brisk autumn morning. I'm always wondering how to get creative with toppings, so I threw this little mixture into the food processor and was incredibly pleased with the sweet outcome. What are some of your favorite oat porridge toppings?
Difficulty Level: Easy What you need: 3/4 cup oat groats 2 cups water (or more) 1/2 cup almonds, soaked in water for a few hours 3 dates, seeded and halved 1 apple, peeled, cored and cut into chunks 1 tsp. maple syrup 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon What to do: Cook oat groats, using whatever method you prefer. I cooked them over the stovetop with the 2 cups water, but had to add more. Cooking the groats in a slow cooker overnight would be fun too! In a food processor, blend the almonds, dates, apple chunks, maple syrup and cinnamon. This is your sweet puree. Top the cooked oat groats with the apple-almond-date puree and serve this hearty, healthy and sweet breakfast to your loved ones. Serves 2-4 related searches : Oat
