Pasta Alla vodka sauce (with home made lamb sausage)
Not that long ago I saw on Rachel Ray's show reference one of her age old recipes. It was "you wont be single for long vodka cream pasta"Although she proclaimed it as one of her most popular recipe downloads, honestly she says that about everything so who knows. Either way I turned off the telly with it burned into my brain, I used to LOVE vodka sauce but I've never made it at home. I went about looking for it and other peoples interpretations of it. First of course I looked up Rachel's exact recipe and then I went about looking for more. I brought Pioneer Woman's variation up on my phone and used it as reference. I made two relevant alterations to even that recipe, instead of using the 3/4- to one full cup of vodka as most recipes recommended I used 1/2 cup vodka and 1/2 cup dry white wine (I keep Rhine wine around pretty regularly). The final but most important addition was home made lamb sausage that I made for Irish Biscuits and Gravy. I had some other meats lingering in the freezer but this was from when I made it a few months ago and it just seemed right. Fortunately it was absolutely right, it did bring a rich dish into a gut busting delicious treat. Its not something you can eat a lot of, I dare not say it was "too rich" but it was so incredible and decadent. I've had nothing like it before and although it was a last minute decision it could not have seemed more intentional.
