Playing Catch-Up
Good morning, blog friends! Sorry that my posting has been so inconsistent lately. Recently, I have felt like my life has lost a little of its balance. I’ve found myself working (full-time job + blogging + class work) way too much and not having enough time for the activities that relax and de-stress me. And, I really don’t like that go-go-go feeling; I need downtime to recharge myself. Some of you have noticed that I’ve reduced my posting to twice a day instead of three times. So far, this new format has been working well, but we’ll see how things pan-out in the work-school-blog realm of my life. Long story short, I’m trying out something new, but I hope to get back on track once I figure out how to balance it all. Hope you guys understand! Breakfast Like most mornings, I could have easily eaten oats for breakfast today, but I opted for two Van’s waffles with 2 tbsp of almond butter and sliced banana. I also had a glass of iced coffee with chocolate soy milk. I already finished it, and I will likely have another! Friday’s Lunch Date Yesterday’s lunch date with Mal was absolutely lovely. For lunch, Mal and I went to the ever-crowded Crema Cafe. That place is always bumpin’, which is totally understandable because it is AWESOME! I now have Mal obsessed with it, too!
I ordered their Golden Crema Latte, which is a honey and cinnamon latte. I had mine made with soy milk. The froth was absolutely perfect! Holy yum! The froth covered the top layer of the latte and even over-flowed down the sides of the mug. It was easy the best frothy latte I’ve ever tasted! I would have never thought to add honey to a latte, but after enjoying the Golden Crema, it makes complete sense to me now. For lunch, I ordered the Sweet Potato sandwich, which was served with avocado, green apple slices, sprouts, hummus, and caramelized shallot vinaigrette on toasted whole wheat bread. To be honest, I wasn’t sure about the combination of ingredients on this sandwich. Avocado mixed with sweet potato and hummus? It sounded strange to me, but there was likely a reason behind this flavor combination, so I ordered the Sweet Potato sandwich with no alterations. Verdict: Good, but not great. I love the idea of sweet potato with green apples on a sandwich. The sweet flavors and soft + crunchy textures make sense to me. However, the more squishy ingredients mixed with sort of bland flavors, like avocado and hummus, didn’t make sense to me, and they didn’t taste that great on the sandwich. (I actually ended up removing the avocado from the sandwich all together.) Instead of the avocado and hummus, I think this sandwich would be delicious with a strong-flavored maple mustard and a fruit chutney.
A busy Saturday ahead for me! Enjoy the day, guys!! related searches : Playing
