PlOTTing & planting: adirondack blue potatoes
![]() Spring is here! Spring is here! I can bring back my weekly segment of "plOTTing and planting a Latte' with Ott, A." And, I'm so happy I could plant my spring garden this weekend. In our garden we planted lettuce, spinach, some other mixed greens and potatoes. (We will plant more things later but this is just the first round.) But we did not plant just any old kind of potatoes. We planted purple potatoes. More specifically, Adirondack Blue Potatoes. They are a blueish-purple color on the outside and inside the potato. Just think how cool these potatoes are going to look in all my cooking and canning. To start with we prepared our soil by getting it all tilled. Then we dug holes about 1 foot apart and about 4 inches deep. We then placed the potatoes in the ground with the cut part of the potato down and the eyes pointed up. (See the purples tinge to the eyes.) Then we covered them up with dirt and watered them good. Now we wait and watch them grow. This post was linked to Frugal Gardening Ideas on Smockity Frocks. ![]()
