Sometimes, You Just Need a Chief Privacy Officer

By Zahirah's World (Visit website)

I have, little by little, been unsubscribing myself from things I never subscribed to in the first place. And deleting old emails that forward to the emails I actually use today. The spam level is reducing…slowly.

The day before yesterday, I unsubscribed to this email from a clothing company, received confirmation of my unsubscription, and then received another email yesterday from the same company. I can only hope that was an email that was already scheduled to go out and that they’ve really taken my email off their list.

But, at the bottom of the email, I found the following text: “Please address questions regarding our privacy policy to our Chief Privacy Officer, xyz Madison Avenue, Floor x, New York, NY 10022.”

And I thought, “CHIEF PRIVACY OFFICER?!” Please. You’ve got to be kidding me. You mean the corporate internet lawyer.

Because I can’t believe a clothing company actually keeps a Chief Privacy Officer on hand for all those pressing clothing privacy concerns. Though I could use a CPO myself to handle all my unsubscribes.
