Thanksgiving Cranberry Biscuits
Every Thanksgiving for several years now, I have been making a mix bread basket. I will make a traditional white bread, corn bread, pumpkin bread and cranberry biscuits. These are a family favorite and my clan looks forward to them every Thanksgiving. They are actually good all year long. I have made them with dried cherries and blueberries. I love smothering mine with creamy butter blended with whipping cream. Yum!!!! I know what your thinking, does she know how fattening these things are. Yes I do, but I do believe you can indulge in moderation as long as you share with others. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone and God Bless!!!!? Basic Biscuit Recipe: Preheat oven to: 425 degrees 2 cups all purpose flour 1 T. baking powder 2 tsp. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 6 T. unsalted butter (very cold cut into small pieces) 1 to 1 1/4 cup heavy cream or buttermilk (I use all cream) It is more like a scone texture or use a combination of the two to cut the fat down. 1/2 dried cranberries Whisk all dry ingredients together in a big bowl. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, cut butter into flour mixture to resemble pea size crumbs. Add cream and cranberries and gently bring the dough together. Do not overwork dough. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Roll out to rectangle 8 x 12. Cut into square pieces approx. 10-12. Bake time approx. 14-18 minutes, until lightly golden in color. related searches : Thanksgiving
