The Best Burger In Austin!
![]() I'm not a huge burger person but I do enjoy a good one on occasion, perhaps once or twice a month. Sometimes my body just starts craving some charbroiled ground beef on a bun and it can't be denied. Obviously, I'm pretty picky about food and most burgers don't really register in my mind as being great, though there are always exceptions. My favorite burger I've ever tasted is the Kobe beef burger at Rogue Brewery in Portland, OR. Kobe beef is bred to be extra fatty and it shows in the flavor. But now in Austin I've found a very close second at Woodland, 1716 Congress Avenue. Their Wood Classic burger is melt in your mouth scrumptiousness, with its firm yet moist and extremely flavorful beef on a toasted bun with all the fixings. It's almost impossible to describe how great this burger is. It simply elevates burgers to a new level. The difference between Woodland's burger and most others is like the difference between eating steak and eating out of a garbage can. Woodland has other delicious treats as well. The corn fritters, onion rings and mac and cheese on the happy hour menu are all fab. They also make a very tasty mint julep, an old fashioned bourbon drink. This eatery is also famous for their pies. I have friends who love the coconut cream pie, while I find it to be a tad too sweet. I did enjoy their key lime pie, though it is not the traditional creamy kind, it was more reminiscent of a lime flavored chess pie. If you're in the mood for some dietary sinning, go do it at Woodland.
