THE HARD ROCK CAFE TO CLOSE IN MARCH:
Yes, it's true, another one bites the dust. I must confess that since opening back in 1997, I have had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe probably 4 or 5 times.
The Hard Rock Cafe located at 7th & K Street in downtown Sacramento, had a rock star theme with lot's of rock memorabilia on the walls, loud music & 80's MTV videos playing on TV's throughout the restaurant. Well, enough already! They are closing? Well, thank God for that! I know it sounds harsh, but in all honesty The Hard Rock Cafe's time has come. The first time I ate there was the best. It was a new experience. New food, a new place. But it kind of got old. It got real old very fast. I remember one time trying to buy a Hard Rock Cafe T Shirt in the little gift shop area & the clerk was either very stoned or very stupid. I had to walk him through the entire T Shirt buying experience. The poor guy had no "hustle" about himself or the job. Finally at the end of the painful experience, when I went to pay for the shirt he told me that I needed to pay at the Bar. He didn't even have a cash register in the gift shop area to ring me up. That was the final straw, I passed on the shirt. As a matter of fact after the stoner clerk T Shirt incident, I didn't return to the Hard Rock Cafe for over a year. One time I went to have lunch with a friend at the Hard Rock & at the end of our meal the Server who had long curly dirty hair, and ugly tattoos asked us to buy his "Demo CD" for just $5.00. He told us he was selling his demo CD so some day "he could get out of here". It was an uncomfortable situation. He was pressuring us to buy his demo CD! WTF? In all of my dining experiences I have never had a server do this. It was so uncool. It was so very very unprofessional. I mean he put pressure on the two of us like an Amway Salesman on Crank for God sakes! It was just so unbelievable. I was speechless. My friend finally caved in & bought the CD from the server. I was going to email the Hard Rock Corporate office & complain, but I didn't. Well, with the March closing, I guess the server will finally get out of there!
