Two New Food Experiences!

By Iowa Girl Eats (Visit website)

They say bad things happen in threes. Well I’m two for three and it’s not even 8am! 8O

Well, ok – they’re not technically bad things, rather, more annoying things – but still! First it started raining two minutes into my morning Mom walk, then the cream I poured into my freshly brewed, delectable vanilla biscotti coffee curdled.

Rats!

Thankfully breakfast was better. It incorporated Justin’s Almond Butter!

I’ve been hearing about the magical properties of Justin’s nut butter for ages around blog land, but have never been able to find any myself. A friend of mine, who has access to the goods, offered to send me some to try and I promptly agreed! :D

I knew exactly which one I wanted to try first – Justin’s Maple Nut Butter. Of all the varieties, I heard this one was the best!

I sqeeeeeezed,

and drizzled.

UMMMMM – this is honey roasted peanut butter’s almond counterpart!!!!!

It’s got that homemade, gritty texture and oh-so sweet honey/maple taste.

3/4 of the pack went onto a sliced Pink Lady Apple and banana, the other 1/4 went straight to the kisser. I hear Justin’s is expensive, but if you have access, I highly reccommend. Thanks Chelsea!!

I’ve got a very interesting lunch today. Mostly because it includes a Pluot!

DSC_0013

70% plum and 30% apricot, the pluot is said to be super sweet and is sometimes referred to as a “dinosaur egg” because of it’s spotted appearance. Ben and I spied them at the grocery store this weekend and could not pass them up. I’ll let you know what I think. :D

Also got a Kitchen Sink Salad!

In the mix:

Mixed greens
Carrot
Roma tomato
Dried cranberries
Chopped almonds
Pepper Jack cheese

 Tast-ay!

Ok, I’ve cooled down. The sun is now peeking through the clouds and since I didn’t go on my walk, I now have time to go get a coffee before work! A friend of mine gave me a Caribou Coffee gift card that I think I’ll use. I used to drink C’bou all the time when I lived in Minneapolis – there were more locations there, where it’s HQ’d, than McDonald’s it seemed – but it’s sort of fallen off my radar. I love that they have sugar-free caramel syrup, which is exactly what I think I’ll get in my delicious iced latte. YUM!

Just in case I still need convincing that this day will turn out fine, I’ll stare at this picture of my nephew for awhile. Heart. Breaker.

Happy Tuesday from Finn and me! :D
