Wicked Lottery

By Meals and Miles (Visit website)

Looks like Orlando had at least one more surprise left for me. ;)

I won the Wicked Lottery! Woop! Woop!

Last December Derek gave me a pair of Wicked tickets for Christmas. We saw the show that Valentine’s Day and I immediately fell in love. I’ve been obsessed with the soundtrack ever since. (It’s seriously been on repeat on my ipod for over a year now!)

When I heard Wicked was coming to Orlando this season I knew I had to see it again. However, the tickets were pricy, so when I saw Gina blog about her success with the ‘Wicked Lottery’ in Tucson, I knew I had to test my luck with it here.

The Wicked Lottery occurs two hours before every performance.

People are given 30 minutes to drop their name in the drum for a chance to win one of ten sets of Orchestra Seat tickets at $25 a pop.

There was a group of about 30-40 people waiting to hear their names called this evening. I was surprised at the size of the group considering it’s a random Wednesday and the lottery isn’t that widely advertised.

I had it in my head I wasn’t going to win, so when the first three names called weren’t mine, I wasn’t surprised.

Then the guy next to me started telling this story of how his Mom went crazy with excitement when her name was called in the past and everyone stared at her. He said that if his name was called he planned to be just as crazy and excited as his Mom had been.

His name was called next and sure enough he went wild and crazy.

I turned to the other guy behind to me (who had also heard the same story being told) and we thought it would be smart to started retelling it to each other to see if that would help our luck.

That’s when my name was called. :)

Turns out that story was lucky after all! I hope that other guy won too, I was too busy jumping with excitement to see who else was called. :)

I instantly grabbed my tickets, called my friend Katy to tell her we were in, and headed to Urban Flats for a fun dinner before the show.

A celebratory glass of wine was deemed appropriate and necessary. :)

For my meal, I ordered the Moroccan Flat.

It doesn’t state it in the menu description above, but I swear the flat was covered in honey! It was really sweet and I’m not sure what else to pinpoint that flavor on.

It was good though. (even with the sweetness ;) )

Wicked was just as amazing as I remembered. Definitely worth seeing twice.

It’s playing at the Bob Carr in Orlando until March 27th and if you haven’t seen it I would HIGHLY recommend testing your luck in the Wicked Lottery before it leaves.

Hey, it worked for us! :)

I walked in the door way passed my bedtime, but my sweet tooth requested a piece of chocolate before I crashed.

Alright, time for bed.

I have green dreams to attend to!

Good Night!
