Rice 1 Cup

Grated Carrot 1 Cup

Desi Ghee/Clarified Butter 1 tablespoon

Powdered Jaggery/Sugar 2 tablespoons

(or as per taste)

Dry Coconut/Desiccated  2 teaspoons

Cloves 2-3

Cashew Nuts 15-20

Almonds 8-10

Rose Water 2 teaspoons

Raisins 2 teaspoons

Cardamom Powder 1 teaspoon


  • Wash and soak rice for 15-20 minutes. Drain out the water.
  • Heat ghee in pressure cooker or heavy bottom pan.
  • Fry cashews, almonds and raisins till golden brown. Remove and drain on absorbent paper.
  • Add cloves to the ghee, saute for 2 minutes. Add grated carrot, stir well till it change the color.
  • Add cardamom powder, coconut and jaggery, mix well.
  • Add rice and 1/2 cup of water.
    Add raisins, cashews and almonds(except few for garnishing) and rose water.
  • Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cook till done.
  • Garnish with fried cashews and almonds.
  • Serve hot.
