German Butter Cookies
These cookies are just like the Danish butter cookies that we can buy. Soft and they really melt in your mouth. Very easy to make if you have the right ingredients in your hand. I made the spotted cow cookies with the same recipe. Do refer to that recipe to see potato starch. You can see that the recipe is the same except for the addition of coco powder. This original recipe is from here.
Ingredients: (makes 35 pieces)
Butter- 125 grams (I used salted)
Potato starch- 125 grams
Powdered sugar- 40 grams (may be add a bit more next time)
Plain flour- 80 grams( I used top flour)
Vanilla- ¾ tsp
Mix the rest of the ingredients to bring it together.
Pinch a small portion of the dough and roll it.
Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
After all the dough balls have been formed, press them with a fork to leave an impression.
Bake for 15-20 minutes at 170 degree C in a preheated oven.
We do not want the cookie to brown.
Allow it to cool and transfer to airtight containers.
