1/2 pound of clarified butter

1/2 cup icing sugar

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

2 1/4 cups all purpose flour.

Sanding or shimmering sugar to decorate


  • To clarify the butter add 1/2 pound plus 2 tablespoon of butter on a small heavy pot and simmer in low heat until the butters is completely melted and all the fat content is on the surface. Remove the fat with a spoon and keep the liquid content.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 F. Place the butter in a bowl and with the help of a mixer, beat it to medium speed for 2 minutes.
  • Add the icing sugar and vanilla and continue mixing for 8 minutes. Decrease the speed to low and add the flour and mix to incorporate for 1 minute.
  • Form into 2 tablespoon balls and flatten with your hands. Place the decorating sugar on a plate and press the cooking on one site to stick the sugar on them.
  • Place the cookies on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
