Feta Saganaki, the Greek recipe for crispy feta and honey

Preparation

  • Step 1 - Feta Saganaki, the Greek recipe for crispy feta and honey
    Preheat the oven to 390°F (200°C). Melt the butter and combine it with the pepper.
    Brush the melted butter on the pastry sheets.
  • Step 2 - Feta Saganaki, the Greek recipe for crispy feta and honey
    Cut the feta into 4 pieces. Arrange the pieces in the center of each pastry sheet.
  • Step 3 - Feta Saganaki, the Greek recipe for crispy feta and honey
    Fold the pastry sheet over to wrap the feta. Brush the pastry sheet with butter after each fold.
  • Step 4 - Feta Saganaki, the Greek recipe for crispy feta and honey
    Arrange the wrapped feta pieces on a baking sheet and sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  • Step 5 - Feta Saganaki, the Greek recipe for crispy feta and honey
    Bake for 20 minutes at 390°F (200°C).
  • Step 6 - Feta Saganaki, the Greek recipe for crispy feta and honey
    Remove from oven and pour some honey on top before serving with a salad. There you are : your feta saganaki are ready !

Observations:

Can we freeze feta saganaki?
Yes you can pre-cook them and then store them in an airtight container. Freeze them before putting honey on them, put them back in the oven before covering them with honey and enjoying them hot.

Can we use an other cheese to make feta saganaki?
Feta saganaki are normally made with feta cheese, but if you wish you can replace it with another cheese such as goat cheese for example!

What to serve with feta saganaki?
You can serve the feta saganaki with a salad for example.

Can I replace the butter with olive oil?
Yes it is possible, you'll love the taste of olive oil in this recipe :-)
