A Dexter Party
The theme of this weekend was Dexter.
Unfortunately I?ve been missing out on this season because I don?t have Showtime.
But my parents do?
My mom is also a Dexter-watcher. LHP dad is not. This creates a predicament for my mom as she prefers not to watch Dexter alone. I can?t blame her. The show is a bit creepy. There?s a lot of?death.
In the past my mom and I watched Dexter together. But since I started my new job, I have moved two hours away from my parents? house, and I don?t get a chance to visit often.
With 8 episodes having aired in this 5th season, my mom and I decided it was finally time to get watching.
So Saturday morning Stephen and I set out bright and early because we had a Dexter On Demand party to attend. It?s not often my eyes see the 7 o?clock hour on a Saturday. Link was a bit confused. Where are you going, Marmie? I told him I was going to see Aunt Beattie and Uncle Irvin and I?d be back in 24 hours. Please don?t eat the sofa while I?m gone, Link. I could never guarantee that, Marmie.
I made sure to leave Link lots of food and water. I thought it might help motivate good behavior in my absence.
The car ride was fairly uneventful. Stephen and I chatted, drank Equal Exchange coffee, and listened to some tunes.
On our way into Greenville, I convinced Stephen we should stop by my favorite grocery store. Lookin? cool in Amazing Savings. Although, I must note, prices here are going up, up, up.
After stocking up on some staples, Stephen and I arrived at our destination. As soon as I walked in the door, Beatrice ran down the stairs to greet me. She always remembers her peeps. Especially Stephen. Beatrice definitely has a crush on him. She made a beeline for his overnight bag. And then refused to remove herself from his computer.
Before the Dexter party could begin, I had an appointment to attend. Goodbye, hair!
Hello Emily Kmetko haircut, take II! And yes, I did bring this Link-chewed picture to the appointment as an example of what I wanted.
So what do you think? Could I be Chelsea Hobbes? stunt double? Totally loving my new ?do! The only problem is now I have to sacrifice some sleep so I have time to blow-dry and straighten my hair, rather than stick it up in a ponytail.
Haircut? Check! Let the main event begin. While most people would choose to be outside on a Saturday, enjoying out-of-the-ordinary warm weather, Stephen, my mom, and I were holed up inside, wearing our pj?s, and watching 5 hours of worth of Dexter episodes. Ok, maybe I was the only one wearing my pj?s.
Beatrice was also ready for a day of relaxation. For the duration of our viewing party, she curled up in her cat bed. Of course she covered her eyes during the killing scenes. Beat Beat is such an innocent little thing.
No Dexter party would be complete without food. My mom made my wheat berry chili recipe.
Along with a celebratory pumpkin pie. Once again, we were celebrating another of Stephen?s accomplishments. Anyone remember the last time my mom made Stephen a pumpkin pie? How about the time I made Stephen a pumpkin pie?
The things we do for that Stephen?
Once all available episodes of Dexter had been watched, the party continued. You can tell when the LHP family is really trying to impress Stephen. We whip out the fast paced board games. Dorky pastime or not– I adore games. Good thing Stephen likes them too! We kicked some serious LHP Dad and LHP Mom booty at both Pictionary and Cranium.

So who?s been watching this season of Dexter? What do you think?? In light of last season?s ending, it?s definitely taken a different turn. I?m still trying to figure out Dexter and his new friend?s relationship, and I?m so curious to know where the writers take it! Stephen hasn?t been enjoying this season as much, but I?m on the edge of my seat every episode. I give it two thumbs up! Related posts:Almost Flexi-Pescatarian related searches : Dexter
