Anuva Wine Tasting - Sampling Argentine wines

By Buenos Aires Foodies | gourmet, shop, wine, restaurant reviews, travel advice, Argentina (Visit website)

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of participating in an Anuva Wine Tasting. I have been to a few tasting in the city. Most share a few common components such an appropriate setting for tasting, a selection of wines with something to nibble on as go, accompanied by a wine expert to guide you. The variation and delivery of these elements is what makes or breaks a tasting. Below is my feedback about the experience with Anuva Wines, and perhaps a few things to take into consideration when you are going for a wine tasting.

FIVE REASONS WHY ANUVA WINE TASTINGS STAND OUT:

1. LOCATION - The tasting was located at the Rendezvous Hotel, in Palermo, in section of their dining room. I appreciate a space intended for food & beverage consumption rather than a dark back room thrown together at the last minute. Some tasting are held in wine cellars, which can add to the experience. Personally, I enjoyed the well-lit surroundings where I could appreciate the true color and translucence of the wine.

2. WINE NOTES - A sheet for wine notes is given to each person, in order to collect their thoughts throughout the tasting. Nevertheless, wine notes and stats are emailed to each person a few days after the tasting. If you choose to, you can sit back and just enjoy.

3. MOOD AND TONE - The tone of the tasting was casual and informative. Some tastings can go into extensive monologues by the expert detailing Ph levels, percentages of precipitation and other stats that make up the wine. While these facts can be of interest to the wine connoisseur, in my case, I prefer information that will guide me in drinking and experiencing wine. The technical details of the wine making process do not fascinate me during a 90 minute wine tasting.
4. PAIRINGS - Wines were paired with premium quality argentine foods. Rather than pairing a Sangiovese with an Italian parmiggiano reggiano, local cheeses were served and represented the argentine palate. Not only were you tasting Argentine wines, but sampling the porteño flavor profile as well. This was one of my favorite aspects of the wine tasting.

5. ADDITIONALS - Restaurant recommendations and more. At the end of the tasting, a list of restaurant recommendations throughout Buenos Aires was offered. This is especially useful for travelers. Also, the complimentary Anuva wine pourer gave the experience something to remember it by.

The varietals sampled at this wine tasting were a sparkling white wine followed by a torrontes, a bonarda, a syrah, a sangiovese and finished with a malbec. All Anuva wines come from boutique wineries throughout Argentina.

The Anuva Wines tasting represents what I most enjoy about experiencing wine. Please note that Anuva Wines is a sponsor of Buenos Aires Foodies. This post was not written as a result of their sponsorship. I have included this post because Anuva Wines represents the high standard of food & beverage experience we support.
