August 29 Sour Cream Raisin Bread

Toddlers are curious. Audrey pulled out my bread machine and wanted to know what it was. I guess it has been too long since we made anything with it. My answer was to let her make Sour Cream Raisin Bread from The Complete Bread Machine Bakery Book.



1 cup sour cream or yogurt
1 tbsp canola oil
1 cup raisins
2 cups unbleached white flour
1 tbsp dark brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt or to taste
1 1/2 tsp dry active yeast
Place ingredients in your bread machine in the order recommended. Bake on a quick cycle.


Audrey's Tasks:
Pour all of the ingredients into machine
Turn machine on
Mom's Tasks:
Gather ingredients
Help Audrey measure and add ingredients
We had fun with this even though I did have to fish a few raisins out of the bottom of the machine before letting her turn it on. I wonder, is there any easy way to convert these bread machine recipes to hand made for those with the desire? Oh, and this picture is of her watching the bread 'make' after she turned it on. She loves to see what is happening. Unfortunately, bread is not something that can keep the attention of a toddler.
