Book review - Nigella Christmas...

By Anula's Kitchen (Visit website)

In the countdown to Christmas I think that's the best book I can recommend. I got it last year and was looking into few times during the year - just to think ahead of all those delicious things I can make next Christmas. This book is a survival guide through this, oh so joyful, but so busy time. You will find there everything and anything you need for perfect Christmas - and New Year's Eve too. If you don't like turkey there are great ideas for alternatives like ham, or even a vegetable Christmas dinner. Many of the recipes will be great not only for this Holiday but also for carnival parties, birthdays etc.
The book is divided into handy chapters: The More the Merrier (Cocktails, Canapes and Manageable Mass Catering), Seasonal Support (Soups, Salad, Sauces and Serve-later Sides), Come On Over.... (Stress-Free Suppers), The Main Event (this section is red edged so easy to find in the centre of the book), Joy to the World (Christmas Baking and Sweet Treats), All Wrapped Up (Edible Presents and Party Preserves), A Christmas Brunch for 6-8, A Bevy of Hot Drinks, Dr Lawson Prescribes (Let Food be your medicine....for hangover ;) ). It's full of delighted photos - you just want to lick the page! Or ran into the kitchen and make/bake/cook it right now this minute!
This book will be also a great Christmas present - for all Nigella's fans but as well people who like to celebrate and love spending some time in their kitchens.
From a huge selection of recipes it's really hard to pick my favourites so I just mention few of them which are all "christmasy" to me: Eggnog Syllabub, Spruced-up Vanilla Cake with Rhubarb and Strawberry Compote, Spiced and Superjuicy Roast Turkey with Allspice Gravy, My Mother's Bread Sauce, Panettone and Italian Sausage Stuffing, Gold-Dust Cookies, Pomegranate Vodka or Christmas Chutney.
