Choosing a Gluten Free Diet to Lose Weight?
Individuals go on a Gluten Free Diet usually because of health reasons, i.e., Gluten Intolerance, Celiac Disease, not usually because of choice. In a nutshell, when you can no longer tolerate gluten in your food, your intestine becomes damaged which leads to malabsorption of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. Whereas, you see a decrease in weight. When you go on a gluten free diet, you will usually see some shift of your weight, either increase or decrease, once your body begins to absorb the food that you are eating. If you do see a weight loss, I would attribute it to the fact that you have now begun to eat healthier, including fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet, not necessarily due to the gluten free aspect of your diet. Before going on a gluten-free diet as a weight loss diet, please do the research and consider all aspects.
