Individuals go on a Gluten Free Diet usually because of health reasons, i.e., Gluten Intolerance, Celiac Disease, not usually because of choice.  In a nutshell, when you can no longer tolerate gluten in your food, your intestine becomes damaged which leads to malabsorption of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.  Whereas, you see a decrease in weight.  When you go on a gluten free diet, you will usually see some shift of your weight, either increase or decrease, once your body begins to absorb the food that you are eating.

The other side to the coin is the cost.  Gluten free food $$ can add up quickly.  I can't say that we would be on this particular diet if it was not warranted.  Your social being also becomes challenged as very few restaurants offer gluten free diet, and only a handful of hotels are just now jumping on that wagon.

Before going on a gluten-free diet as a weight loss diet, please do the research and consider all aspects.  A link to a recently, very well written article is below.
