Eclectic Wiccan Witch

By Confessions of a Kitchen Witch (Visit website)

This is how I define my path when I have to put a label upon it. Personally, I do not like labels but we are a society of labels. In order for us to understand something or someone, we feel the need to put a label upon it, but what does this mean to me? Well....

Eclectic: selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles. For me, taking all that is beautiful and incorporating that into my own Spiritual path, it feeds my heart, my mind and my soul! Do I care if I am judged for it? No! It's how I maneuver within this life and in this world. Does that make me less of a Pagan? NO!! Will I be shunned by my fellow pagan community? Do I care? No! Those who do, I would not waste my time on them anyway.

Wiccan: For those that follow any Pagan path, a lot of people I know usually stumble upon Wicca as a starting point. Although I incorporate several paths into my heart, there are some Wiccan principles that I hold dear to my heart!

Witch: (or should I say Sorceress? lol) The wise woman, the healer, the one that practices witchcraft (or The Craft, however you want to *label* it) For me personally, I am proud to call myself a witch. I practice The Craft however elaborate or however simple. It is just who I am.

Now why am I writing about this? Well, the Pagan community seems to have their panties in a wad over the last several weeks due to Christian Day's use of the word *Warlock*. Really? For the last several weeks I have read post after post and blog after blog over this and quite frankly, I am quite saddened by intolerance and disrespect of our fellow Pagans out there. The ones who preach the exact opposite.

I want to begin with the definition of the word tolerance:

Tolerance: sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own.

How about Respect:
Respect: To have respect of persons; to regard persons with partiality or undue bias, especially on account of friendship, power, wealth, etc. Consideration.

One of the reasons that some people gravitate toward Paganism is the FREEDOM, RESPECT, and TOLERANCE to PRACTICE however they choose to WITHOUT the FEAR of JUDGEMENT.

With everything that is going on in the world today you would think that a person who chooses to use the term Warlock would be only dust in the wind! Now, I am not saying that it isn't important to Christian Day. He has EVERY RIGHT to choose whatever word, term, label he sees fit and if it speaks to his heart, then by all means it shouldn't matter to anyone else.

I have much RESPECT for those who have the courage to put themselves out there and stand up for what they believe in, however big or small. It takes a lot of courage to put yourself in the public eye, all the while knowing you might be crucified for it, but from your own community? How sad is that? For the definitions again look above.

I will requote what I orginally wrote just recently on Facebook about this:

" Personally, I feel that the Christian Day's out there are the forerunners that continue to pave the way in being and living as authentic, honest, and genuine as can be. I find it brave to put yourself out there, knowing that there will alw...ays be someone to try and tear it apart. It takes a stronger person to walk their walk, with their head held high no matter what. For someone like myself, who happens to always be a bit shy in the public eye, it is people like Christian that give me the strength to over come some of my own fears and live my life the way I see fit to...without fear or caring what others think. For those naysayers, to me it's either jealousy, envy, no life or all 3 put together. And for those that are *stuck* in old definitions and terms, etc either need something to argue about or are just so narrow-minded to even attempt to see any other way other than their own so it's a waste of time to even argue with them.

As quoted by Sabrina The Inkwitch: "My main argument has been and will continue to be that I do not think it is right for One person to tell another person HOW they should be pagan. If this isn't about the individual - then what is it? And if some are going to argue that they have the RIGHT to tell another person who and how they *should* BE - then those Haters should take their logic across the board....meaning they have to HATE all who'd fall under the heading of solitary and eclectic."

I firmly stand by this and regardless if you are Pagan, Non-Pagan, Jewish, Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, etc NO ONE has the right to tell another HOW to Pray, HOW to Practice, or simply, HOW TO BE!!!

Now, instead of bashing one another, let's get together and help those devastated in Japan, or put your energy into helping this world become a better place, and not tearing down your fellow man/woman! It's 2011, don't you think it's time to stop hating!~
