Edo Japanese Steakhouse

By Gratifyin' Grubbin' (Visit website)

A date night came up last weekend, so my boyfriend and I jumped at the chance to explore new places in Port Chester. We always love Japanese food, so Edo seemed like a fun way to spend our evening.

Edo Japanese Steakhouse is a well-known hibachi restaurant in the Port Chester area. It is all decked out with typical Japanese restaurant flair. One thing I will say is that the hibachi tables seemed so close together. It felt really cramped. I got stuck sitting in the isle that everyone walks through, and got bumped a bunch of times.

Of course the chef put on an entertaining show, but it was hard to hear him over the huge party that was going on behind us. We were seated quickly; our orders were taken in a timely manner, but when it came to getting our drinks refilled, it took awhile. With so much soy sauce and salty flavors, beverages were badly needed.

We each got the chicken dinner, which came with soup, salad, shrimp appetizer, white rice (which could be fried rice for extra) and chicken of course. The soup was lacking anything actually in the soup. It was essentially just broth and some scallions. The salad was what you would expect. My biggest complaint was that the shrimp did not look fully cleaned out. When the chef placed the shrimp on the cook top, I could clearly see that the veins were not all removed. I would have said something, but it was too loud for the chef to hear me anyway. The chicken and rice were both yummy, and the sauces (especially the ginger sauce) were delicious.

For a family friendly place, for a little extra, Edo?s isn?t all that bad. It is a fun show and the food is plentiful. If you can tolerate the noise, and close quarters, this is a good place to get some hibachi grub in Port Chester.
