Foodie Find: Quaker True Delights Granola Bars
I am a huge fan of the granola bar--it is one of my favorite energy snacks. So much better than, say, grabbing a Snickers for that late afternoon boost, ya know what I mean?:) If I ever did one of those, "What's in your handbag?" stories, you'd probably find a granola bar amongst the notebooks, pens, lip glosses and tissues, assorted kiddie toys and foodie books I typically carry. So you know I was thrilled when my friends at Foodbuzz (a social networking community of foodie followers from around the world) not only invited me to become a Foodbuzz Tastemaker, meaning I get to try out new food products before they hit the general market, but also told me that my first treat would be a new granola bar! Quaker True Delights are not your average gooey crunchy granola bar. I mean, these are granola bars for grown-ups. The packaging is quite sleek--very upscale looking. And the ingredients definitely raise the bar; just get a load of the names of these things: Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond; Honey Roasted Cashew Mixed Berry; Toasted Coconut Banana Macadamia Nut. Delish! My favorite one is the Toasted Coconut (pictured)--it has huge chunks of macadamia nut and large slivers of toasted coconut. Sweet and savory--be still my heart!:) But get this: each bar provides on average 14 percent of your daily recommended fiber intake; and the sugar count is pretty low as these things go -- 8 grams. The fat (about 7% of the total) and the calories (about 140 per bar) aren't bad either. The boxes are priced to move: $3.49, with 5 bars in each box. The line will be available nationwide at a grocery store near you this month. Listen, I wouldn't even mention them to you if I didn't like them--I don't talk about the stuff I don't like; I just move on. These are good; trust me. related searches : Foodie
