French Onion Dip Pizza
I had been eating so well last week and saw this amazing-looking French onion dip pizza on Brenda's Canadian Kitchen Blog and have NOT been able to stop thinking about... I decided to make it on Thursday night as a treat for James and I and although it didn't look half as good as Brenda's it sure as heck tasted amazing! Next time I think I would add chicken or something else to give it more substance as it was pretty rich but it was very tasty! Here's the recipe :D Ingredients: 2 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil, plus extra for brushing 2 large onions, thinly sliced 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped or pressed Salt and ground black pepper 1 ball of fresh pizza dough, about 16 oz. (I used Pillsbury... Not gonna lie! So quick & easy) 1 cup creme fraiche or sour cream (I used sour cream) 3/4 cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese 3/4 cup shredded Gruyere cheese 1/2 cup granted Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese 1 Tbs. fresh thyme leaves, chopped Directions: Preheat oven to 450 degrees Place a large skillet over medium heat with about 2 Tbs. of olive oil. Add the onion to the pan and gently cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are a soft and deep golden brown, about 25 minutes.
Awesomely caramelized!Stir in the garlic the last 8-10 minutes of cooking time. While the onions are cooking- stretch the pizza dough to the size of your pan. Transfer the dough onto the pan and brush with a little olive oil. Bake until set and very light golden brown, about 15 minutes. When the onions are ready, season them with salt & pepper, and stir in the creme fraiche or sour cream. Spread the mixture evenly over the pre-baked pizza crust. Sprinkle the cheese and thyme over the pizza and return it to the oven. Bake until golden brown and bubbly, about 10 minutes. Serves 4. Enjoy! related searches : French
