Guinness Shepherd's Pie

Guinness Shepherd's Pie
serves 4-6
Ingredients:
1 lb. Ground beef or lamb1 1/2 Cup chopped onion [ or 1 full TB onion powder]2-3 Garlic cloves - chopped [ or 1/2 tsp garlic powder]2 or 3 tsp. Sage 1 1/2 cups frozen peas and carrots12 oz Guinness beer or 1 1/2 cups water
2 packets of beef gravy mix [beef and onion gravy even better!]
Black pepper to taste4-5 medium potatoes boiled and mashed -- or 4 servings instant potatoes1/2 cup shredded cheddarBrown ground beef, pour off fat when done. Then add all ingredients except potatoes, stir to mix well and cook on medium heat for 5 minutes. Put mixture into a 2 quart casserole dish, or glass pie pan and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top of the casserole. Sprinkle cheese and parsley over top and bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 30-40 minutes or until meat is bubbling hot, and the mashed potatoes are browned.
