Heart Healthy Hot Cocoa
This raw food hot (or shall we say, warm) cocoa recipe comes from a book I picked up at the library. From what I can see so far the book does include simple recipes, although many require a few kitchen gadgets which I don't have.
So, why is the recipe "heart healthy?" Well, studies link regular consumption of nuts and seeds with blood pressure control, lower cholesterol, and a decreased risk of heart disease. I think you will enjoy this rich and creamy raw cocoa/carob drink. Difficulty Level: Easy What you need: 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, soaked for 6 hours 1 1/4 cups warm water 5 dates, soaked for 1 hour or more 1 heaping tablespoon carob powder or raw cocoa powder 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1/4 tsp. almond extract What to do: In a blender, add seeds, dates and 1 cup water. Blend until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again. If you wish, warm slightly in a pan, but make sure the water is no more than 115 degrees F so as not to destroy the enzymes. Serves: 1 Enjoy! related searches : Heart
