I Have No Words

Tonight I had one of those food experiences that proves why I really am The Enthusiastic Eater.

The meal was had at SPQR, which is part of the same group that runs A16. Nate Appleman, who has won a James Beard award, was named a Best New Chef in 2009 by Food & Wine and who competed in the most recent season of Food Network's Next Iron Chef used to be heavily involved with both restaurants but he left this summer, possibly to pursue celebrity chefdom.

My husband and I shared a number of dishes: two appetizers, two pastas, and one entree. I won't bore you with all of the details, but the dish pictured here was so incredible that it deserves a moment in the spotlight. It was tonight's special - a single raviolo stuffed with ricotta and an egg with fontina and black truffles on top. I almost don't have the words to describe how this dish made me feel, but it was one of the most delicious things to ever cross my lips - creamy, savory, and rich. It was so good in fact, that we ordered a second one!!

The other dishes we shared were very tasty as well. But this one - this one was one for my mental scrapbook of best dishes of my life.
