Kitchen Gadgets?

So everybody has their favorite kitchen gadgets. I know I have mine, some are for making my life easier while cooking, some are just cool to use and some I just have because I can!

Lets take a look a few of my favorites, why I have them and are they truly that useful.

Japanese Mandolin.

In my opinion, an absolute must have. I use it for slicing everything. Yes, my knife skills are good, and pretty fast, but you can beat the consistent and quick cut of one of these!

Sushi Knife

Ok, this falls into the category of don?t need  but cool to have. Global knifes are awesome to begin with, but this knife can split a hair.

Microplane Grater

Use this for all sorts of things, cheese, zest, garlic, fresh horseradish, ginger or even onion or shallots. Simple to use makes this a perfect tool for every kitchen.

?Fish Spatula?

Ok, Well that?s what I call it. Again, a must have. It is flexible and is great for turning fish on the grill or in the pan. Be careful, if you get on with a wood handle, it does burn, not that I know that first hand.

Silpat

A must have for any serious baker! Use them in the oven over and over and over. Use them for candy or sugar work. Use them for rolling out dough or batters. So many uses, not enough time.
