Lunchbox Treats
These Lunchbox Treats from Nigella Express are fabulous! It's Autumn, which, around here means lots of baking for school fetes and the like. Sometimes you need to prepare something that travels well, is relatively healthy and really quite quick. I hadn't made this recipe before, because it calls for Rice Malt Syrup. Not an ingredient I have come across as yet. However, after Nigella Lawson herself suggested this recipe when I asked on Nigella.com for recipe ideas, and told me I could replace the ingredient with Golden Syrup, I jumped at the chance to make them.
This is one of those delicious morsels that you make for children, but adults love. The rolled oats within, help to give a more substantial mouth-feel, that can convince you these are good for you, the sesame seeds help take it away from being too much like a children's party treat (not that there's anything wrong with those). If there was a hint I could give to this simple recipe, it's to take heed of Nigella's suggestion to wear CSI-style latex gloves firstly, and secondly, they need to be squeezed a little to hold together initially. Not difficult at all, and in fact, I have made exactly the amount the recipe says - 25. The merest hint of milk chocolate in these is great, and I know these will be very well received. You can find the recipe on Nigella's forum in the Recipes Section, a fabulous no-bake treat.related searches : Lunchbox
