Hurry up-- cut off is June 11th!!
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Last night I went grocery shopping to get all the food I needed for my first official week of the "Flat Belly Diet." It calls for loads of produce {which I love}, everything to be whole grain {ok, I can handle that}, and lots of random ingredients that I do not typically store {out comes the wallet}.

I spent some time in the Organic section...ok, alot of time... I never usually buy that stuff, but it's recommended on this diet, so why not!? Well, natural/organic food ain't cheap folks! I was about half way {yes, only half way} thru my shopping when I almost abandoned my cart and walked out of the store! I sucked it up in the end and finished my outing to the grocery store, hoping that this would all be worth it in the end.

{Remember people, this is just my personal view of this diet, and it should be said that I am one FRUGAL shopper. But I am not going to sugar coat anything, I'll let you know how it is, and if you think it's worth a try, go for it!}

All of my reservations about the costs went out the window when I prepared the food for today. Two of the highlights of my day... Lunch (Chicken and Apple Salad) and Snack (Strawberry Chocolate Waffle).

Gorgeous right?? It tasted AMAZING especially for just 371 calories! {I can get used to that!}
I had to share this recipe with you guys...so simple!

Chicken and Apple Salad: Mix 3 cups shredded romaine lettuce, 1 small tomato, sliced, 1 medium tart apple (such as Granny Smith), diced, and 3 ounces organic deli chicken breast, sliced into small pieces. Toss with 1 tablespoon olive oil and 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar. Crumble 2 small whole wheat crackers over top.

You see this beautiful treat? This was my snack for today!! A whole wheat waffle topped with 1/4 cup dark chocolate and 1 cup of frozen strawberries (thawed, but I made mine even warmer than that {yum!}). All that for just 359 calories!! Is it bad that I licked the plate clean??

To sum things up... yes it's a little more pricey than I would normally spend for my groceries, but there are benefits for a little splurging. {Plus there is a 'slimmer me' to look forward to!}
