"Old Fashioned Favorite" Paula's 5 Layer Bars + July's Dinner Menu

By Mommy's Kitchen (Visit website)

I want to celebrate Old Fashioned Favorites! You know all those comfort foods we love to eat. It might be a dish or favorite sweet treat that you remember your mother making for you as a child. Maybe you still make a lot of these treats or dishes, I know I do. There is just something about Old Fashioned Cooking that I love, I think it is the simplicity of it all. I am going to be posting some recipes that take us back to those days. The first recipe is The 5 Layer Cookie Bar aka Magic Cookie Bars. This is such an old fashioned favorite treat! Did you know that the 5 layer cookie bar is the most popular recipe in Eagle Brand history, this easy one-pan treat debuted in the 1960's. Its hard to believe 40 years later it is still a favorite among many. I know it is definitely a favorite in our house.
I usually make these around Christmas time as one of my many treats that I add to my holiday cookie trays. The other day I was watching Paula's Best Dishes and she made these wonderful little bars on her show. They really brought me back to old times. I couldn't help it, I had everything to make them so I had to throw some together. Paula really got me craving these little buggers. Nothing is better than chocolate and nuts mixed together with coconut, graham crackers and sweetened condensed milk, I mean how can you go wrong with all those ingredients. Why don't you whip up a old time favorite in your house, I bet your family will be glad you did. I also want to mention that I have posted my July Dinner Menu. You can click here to view this months menu. Stay tuned as I will be featuring more Old Fashioned Favorites.
