Pain Perdu aux 2 chocolats ( Chocolate French Toasts)
![]() Once upon a time, long long ago, in France, pain perdu, or literally "lost bread" used to be a poor people's delicacy; As it's name indicates it gives a little taste and consistency to a stale bread with very cheap ingredients. Even though personalized versions of the pain perdu, mostly combined with refined ingredients are being created by great cooks in present days, it still remains a dish easy to prepare, cheap and pleasant to eat. Ingredients: (for 6) 70 g black chocolate 70 g milk chocolate 3 eggs 50g sugar 600 ml milk 1 packet (7 g ) vanilla sugar 1 pinch cinnamon powder 12 slices of sweet bread (brioches) 12 sticks butter Method: Peel the chocolates separately and make small chocolate chips and reserve. Beat the eggs in a bowl like we do for omelets with the sugar and cinnamon powder. In another bowl, mix the milk and the vanilla sugar; reserve. Melt a stick of butter in a flat pan on medium heat. Dip quickly a slice of sweet bread in the milk mixture and soon after in the egg mixture and place on the pan. Toast both the sides until the bread becomes slightly brown and dry. Repeat this for all the bread slices. Place the toasted bread on a serving plate, sprinkle some chocolate chips and serve at once. ![]() Traditionally, it is dusted just with some sugar and served with a jam. It can be served for breakfast or tea time (My teddies love to eat this after school) It can also be served as a dessert, by adding a scoop of vanilla ice-cream or cacao ice cream on the top of the hot toasted breads. Just personalize as you wish and enjoy! related searches : Pain
