Raw Wednesday Challenge; Smoothie!
We have been on a raw food kick over here lately. My mom has jumped on board too and has been un-cooking everything! She made some cucumber-avocado soup yesterday and a raw walnut date torte the other day. It?s all quite delicious!
Here?s the torte? It?s very sweet, actually sweeter than any dessert I can think of! But it is really delicious. It?s all dried fruit and walnuts on the inside and the ?frosting is a blend of dates and fresh squeezed lemon juice. YUM! I?m definitely going to be digging into that this afternoon.
Anywho.
This morning I whipped out the blender to make a raw smoothie. My smoothies aren?t typically raw thanks to the addition of certain alternative milks and whey protein powders. This morning I made sure it was 100% raw. Into the blender went: 1/2 frozen banana 1 cup of frozen cherries 1 serving of hemp protein powder 1 tablespoon of raw almond butter 1 pitted medjool date Filtered water The first sip was a little gritty thanks to the hemp protein but I actually really enjoyed the smoothie overall! Hemp protein is very earthy compared to whey protein which is sweet and becomes really creamy, but I really like it now and know that it is really good for me. The smoothie was surprisingly satisfying and filling. I?m still going strong after about two hours.

Off the Mat; Miracle of Mindfulness I am currently reading the Miracle of Mindfulness as part of my teacher training program and am really loving it. It focuses on bringing awareness into every moment of your day, doing things to do them and not to get to the next step. One example used was washing the dishes to wash the dishes, not so you can you enjoy a cup of tea when you are done. Another was a little story about someone eating a tangerine. The person was still eating the tangerine segment in his mouth when he was already reaching for the next. He wasn?t taking time to enjoy what he already had!
It?s kind of turned my attention to all of the things I do throughout the day just to get them over with, but really we should be enjoying every moment, being fully present. I often find my self doing things mechanically and ?wake up? after the task is done not really knowing what just happened. Do you ever get those moments? I?ve also been known to multi-task (I?ve been watching the Today show and browsing the internet simultaneously all morning!). Do you multi-task? How many times have we all enjoyed a meal while watching TV or working on the computer? Ooopsies!
Today I?m going to focus on consciously going about my tasks, turning my attention to what I?m doing in that moment, rather than what I am going to be doing next. What task will you focus on today? related searches : Raw
