Rubber Ninja vs Holy Cannoli!
18 Margaret Street, Moonee Ponds ![]() I chanced upon this café just around the corner from the bustle of Puckle St, and I?m so glad I did! If the word "cannoli" doesn?t already have you drooling the door front signs indicating this place rated a mention in the Foodies Guide 2007 and won a plethora of other awards, should be setting off your saliva glands. I went for my soy mocha mission, but thought it would be foodie sacrilege to skip a taste-test of their infamous cannoli. Spoiled for flavour-choice, I settled on a mini choc cannoli (not surprising, really) for $1.50. A crispy shell holds a generous piping of rich chocolate custard-cream, with melted dark chocolate painted on the inside of the shell to keep the outside crisp and crunchy. The ends of the cannoli were sealed with chocolate flakes. My only regret was not buying a larger one! Seriously, I had this bite of heaven not even 3 hours ago, and I?m craving another. My saving grace is the kilometres of walking required to get there from the Ninja-cave. Behold the inner glory of the cannoli!
