Three, Two, One. 0000 010110.

By le cahier de Justin (Visit website)

I'm in Montreal, drove from Ottawa for an hour and a half through the snow. I was expecting Montreal to be snowy-ier, and colder. But it's warm! Like, -4C warm! We met the Ling family at their door front and we've been having a great time every since.

Before we left for Montreal, we finally had the sushi Ma was craving for ever since she touched down. We ordered a lot. I was so full! It wasn't great sushi, but it was buffet, and cheaper. We decided to give Ma a surprise to celebrate her birthday earlier cos I won't be around with her on 10 January.

Since 2010 is upon us, I thought it'd be good to think of my '10 resolutions, and make them come to fruition, just like the Singapore government did 20 years ago. I've classified them into 3 categories, with 5 aspects.

Short-term goals that I've to achieve within 2 months the most:

Spiritual: 1. Find a church.
(Diagonally across my house, I'll check that out.)
2. Start and finish the devotional book Pastor Ghim Har gave me.
(2 month book, can be done.)

Physical: 1. Find a routine to follow through the day for a sense of security.
(Get settled and get used to the life alone.)
2. Find a 50m pool and gym.
(Quite hard to find a 50m pool in Canada, gyms are a plenty.)
3. Plan and follow an exercise regime that suits my schedule.
(Plan after I get my schedule.)

Career: 1. Make a good first impression at Le Cordon Bleu.
(Clean white ironed pressed uniform, never be late, never be rude.)
2. Keep an open mind and a steadfast resolve of my purpose at Le Cordon Bleu.
(Everyday psyching when I wake up excited.)

Financial: 1. Start keeping track of expenses.
(Starts 1 Jan. Money will not disappear again. No lending to friends like in Singapore...)
2. Save monthly, weekly, whenever I can.
(Be thrifty, and save using my saving account.)

Relations: 1. Find friends at Le Cordon Bleu and in church.
(Sooner or later.)

Long-term goals I have:

Spiritual: 1. Grow closer to God so I can make wise decisions like a mature Christian.
(QT)
2. Change my outwardly impression as someone who's wild and irresponsible.

Physical: 1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle.
2. Drink less.
3. No smoking.
4. Reach and maintain a fat percentage below 9%.
5. Start running again.
6. Stay injury free.

Career: 1. Top my class every time.
2. Achieve a grading of nothing less than 96%.
3. Develop a vast knowledge of ingredients, foods. Of their uses, history, taste, properties.
4. Ultimately surpass my mentors.

Financial: 1. Obtain and maintain a good credit rating.
2. Save up for Exclusive's visit.
3. Savings of at least 2k.
4. Be able to set aside money for big ticket items: Blackberry, DSLR, NYC trip and shopping.

Relations: 1. Remain faithful, preserve my best.
2. Forge good friendship with fellow students and chefs and church members.
3. Expand my network.

My goals with datelines are:

Spiritual: 1. Start serving in church by June.
2. Finish the book by end February.

Physical: 1. Drop to 69kg, or to 9% body fat by 1 March.
2. Muscle definition by 1 March.
3. Swim a marathon, 3km or more, before September.
4. Run a marathon in September.

Career: 1. Top my course with honours, distinctions by 11 November.
2. Get a job in a top restaurant by December.

Financial: 1. Saved 1k by June.
2. Saved 2k by December.
3. Find a job to support Blackberry plan, and set aside for big ticket items by December.

Relations: No datelines.

I made it. My last post in the year 2009. I've had such a great time with my friends. Thank you Alan, Sean, Dean, Dave, Justin, Nick, Rendall, Kun Jie, Jestyn, Charisse, Derrick, Lejon, Da Jie and so many others for making my year such a great year. You've all been the greatest things that happened to me this year. God bless you, may you have an awesome 2010. I really miss you all right now. I really really wish I could spend this time with you all in person to cross the year. I hope I will see you all soon. With much love, Justin.
