Tofu Donburi Bento
I recieved this roomy two tier bento as a gift from a very special person. Gosh… I wish that everyone in this world was as sweet and thoughtful as the people I’ve met on the “bento-net”. This bento is filled to the brim with yummy, healthy foods. The bottom tier has a dry cooked tofu donburi over brown rice then topped with nori, beni shoga and garnished with the ubiquitous enoki mushrooms! The kaiware sprouts and wasabi peas may be redundant but I love the flavor and it’s bite! The top tier has an abundance of steamed broccoli. I wanted to stuff more in there but decided that having a variety of flavors and colors would be better in the long run. What’s that saying? “Variety is the spice of life”! I agree and hey, isn’t that the key to bento lunches in the first place? Colors. Flavors. Textures. Next to the broccoli are slices of Tuscan melon. If you have access to these super-sweet cantaloupes, please try them as they’re like nectar! Tomatoes are the usual filler and I also added a couple of blueberries… again for color and a change of flavor! The coolest feature of this bento is it’s “handle”. How great is this?! And I had been eyeing this bento on Amazon related searches : Tofu
