Wellington's Pub & Restaurant - 10 E. Main St. British Turlock, CA

By Restaurant Reviews and Discounts (Visit website)

Wellington's Pub & RestaurantAward-winning Wellington's British Pub & Restaurant in Turlock is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, occupying the extensively remodeled Southern Pacific Railroad Depot that served this rural agricultural community's rail shipping and passenger needs between 1915 and the mid-1970s. Upon entering, Wellington's patrons are immediately whisked halfway around the world to the British Isles where traditional pubs are the focus of social life and family-friendly gatherings for entire communities. Wellington's is just such a place, with a traditional pub look and feel, a place where visitors can quaff a pint of ale and enjoy British pub grub prepared the way it is supposed to look and taste, or partake of American dining out staples such as burgers, hot and cold sandwiches, an exciting array of delicious appetizers, fresh made soups and salads and eight-item list of dinner entrees capped off by Prime Rib of Beef served every Friday and Saturday. The pub boasts a busy bar and lounge, a covered outdoor patio and three real railroad cars -- a Zephyr, Pullman and Caboose - for intimate dining, banquets and private parties. In its best attempt to provide the true British experience, the pub features 15 imported and domestic beers and cider on tap, as well as a full range of cocktails and a modest wine list. Sports telecasts appear on seven HD TVs. Wellington's transforms into a busy nightclub after dinner hours, featuring nightly entertainment that includes live trivia, open mic nights, college nights, karaoke and DJs & Dancing. An independently owned restaurant, Wellington's is the recipient of the National Restaurant Association's Good Neighbor Award and has been voted the Best Pub in Turlock by local newspaper readers four years in a row. Wellingtons was also featured in AAA Via Magazine as a notable attraction along the State Highway 99 corridor through Central California.
