What?s Your ?Thing??

By Iowa Girl Eats (Visit website)

The Hawkeyes did it!

Our boys pulled off a 24-14 victory against Georgia Tech, in the coldest Orange Bowl in history! Seeing as how they’re coming from the frozen tundra that is Iowa, I’m positive the guys thought it was practically balmy out there. :) GO HAWKS – I can’t wait until next season!

The game didn’t end until after 10:30 (waaaay past my bedtime) so it was a wee bit difficult to get up today! I slept in a little, channeled some multi-grains,

and made a quick breakfast of MultiGrain Cheerios & Almond Butter Toast.

I seriously cannot get enough of these MGCs. I had them for last night’s snack too. (I must have it least one snack every night!)

Trader Joe’s almond butter smeared on warm, 100% whole wheat toast (cut on the diagonal) is such a feel good breakfast item, too. I feel like I’m feeding my body good things when I eat this bread!

I was kind of freaking out that there was no fresh fruit involved in breakfast, but I’m taking care of the produce department at lunch today…

with another Fruit & Nut Salad. This was so good on Monday, that I had to repeat the same combo today!

Mixed greens, pecans, dried apricots and carrots.

Crunchy, nutty & chewy sweet. Just how I like my salads – tons of flavors and textures. That Italian dressing + balsamic vinegar combo turned out to be pretty tasty too, so I brought that again today.

I also packed a Navel Orange which is sporting Dori from Finding Nemo. Love that movie! Love these oranges too. The bunch I picked up at the grocery store last weekend have been incredibly sweet and juicy. I think that’s why I hadn’t had an orange in so long. I remember eating a bunch a couple years ago that were dry and hard, which completely turned me off from eating them for a long time. Then: blech. Now: yum!

So can anyone fill me in on The Biggest Loser last night (no DVR in the IGE household!)? How’s our season looking? I read an article with Jillian yesterday in Ladies Home Journal mag – she is so great. Practical, honest, real. She was kind of intense last season with getting in contestant’s faces about their issues and then crying with them about it afterwards, which I think turned a lot of people off. But, I think she means well, and she’ll always be my favorite BL trainer. Remember Kim?! :D

Tonight my Mom and I are going to pick out some new makeup for her and grab dinner while we’re out too. Where to go, where to go…

Happy hump day!

What’s your spending “thing”? Clothes, going out to eat, collectibles, etc.?

Mine is so random – sunglasses. I have the narrowest face and need a size that’s in between children’s and adult sizes, so I’m obsessed with finding the perfect pair. I seriously have like 10 laying around!!
