Who needs lunch when you can go to the gluten-free food and allergy show?

By G is for gluten. (Visit website)

Me and Dr GlutenMy city's annual gluten-free food and allergy show was held on Saturday. I was so excited about it that my sisters decided to come along too, mainly for the legendary taste testers and the fact that I promised to get a photo with the illustrious Dr Gluten. (There was NO sarcasm in that last comment, seriously.)

I believe they thought they had to come and force me to get a photo, otherwise I'd wimp out, like at the A&P show where I didn't get a photo with Kelly Young (above). I ate an amazing burger though:

*sigh*

But I digress, I justified my sisters' gluten-eating presence at the show by saying that they were my tasters, they could tell me if the gluten-free imitations on show were yummy or not. You see, after two years of being gluten-free my taste is a bit out-of-whack.

In the above picture you can see half of my sister's awesome haircut and not much else.

I don't think I'm very good at taking photos of events. The girl at the Burgen stand was absolutely clueless but I won't hold that against them because the bread tasted great!

Yes, I got a photo with Dr Gluten! Success! -  I need a haircut and my thumb looks weird! Fail!

When people ask me who Dr Gluten is, I usually explain it by saying that he's like Dr Death but for gluten-free people - which doesn't actually make sense, but people usually nod their head and move on as if it did.
What I should really say is this: He's pretty much a worldwide ambassador for Gluten-free awareness, challenging medical ideas, inspiring research and helping people everywhere through his influence. He also has a clinic in my city where he helps kids with allergies. Pretty much, he's awesome and I got a photo with him. Ha!

 I also bought these books.

 And got them signed... see?

I thought they'd be a great resource for my own knowledge and for lending out to friends.

I've just got to give a shout-out to Ceres Organics because the people on their stall were so nice, had a huge array of taste testers and gave us several copies of their cookbook.

How awesome is that?!

This year's loot - not much compared to last year's, but considering how many taste testers there were I can't complain!
