Whole Wheat Dates Bread

Home made breads will always give you the flexibility to choose healthy ingredients that suit  your taste......And no-knead ones can be made just in no time....

This lovely Dates bread is always one of the breakfast options in my home....

Do I have to mention the nutrition facts of Dates ??
It is such a good source of minerals such as Calcium , Iron and Magnesium and with no cholesterol content as an added advantage.......It is a wonderful substitute for sugar when you are in mood for something to feed your sweet tooth...

I have used whole wheat flour to make it healthier instead of plain flour...Also avoided sugar and so the bread has its sweetness from the dates alone.....Finally , added some linseeds too........And landed up with a simple n guilt-free breakfast option....

Here is the recipe to try out...

Ingredients
Whole wheat flour         - 1 1/2 cup
Dates                              - 1 cup [ pitted ]
Water                             - 1/2 cup
Baking Soda                  - 1 1/2 tsp
Baking Powder             -  1 tsp
Oil                                  - 1/2 cup [ I used Olive Oil ]
Milk                               - 1 cup
Linseeds                        - 1/4 cup [ optional ]
Preparation
Preheat Oven to 200°C
Combine the flour with baking powder and keep aside.
In a sauce pan , boil the water and add dates to it. Let the dates get soft and mushy. Then switch off the heat and add Baking Soda to this. Mix well and allow it to cool. [ Alternatively you can cook the dates in microwave also, keeping for about 3 mins ].
Once it is cooled down, take it in a blender along with Oil and Milk and blend it to a  paste.
Transfer this mix to a bowl.
Add flour to this and combine well without any lumps.
Finally add in the linseeds and mix well.
Pour into an 8 x 4 " bread loaf pan and bake for about 45-50 mins.
Please dont forget to cover the loaf tin with an aluminum foil after 20-25 mins of baking.
Once the bread is done, allow to rest in the loaf tin for 2-3 mins before transferring on to a wire rack to cool.
Allow it to cool down completely before slicing.
