Daily Menu, June 22: Discover irresistible starters, vibrant mains and sweet desserts to enjoy today
Welcome to our daily menu for June 22, a delicious invitation to enjoy a colorful and flavorful culinary journey. Today’s selection brings together freshness, spice, and sweetness in a menu designed to surprise the palate from start to finish.
We begin with a refreshing starter featuring Green Dragon Vegetables, also known as Royale Chives. Then comes a bold and satisfying main course: Mysore fried chicken, full of aromatic spices and irresistible flavor. To finish, we turn to something sweet and elegant: a strawberry and mascarpone layer cake, perfect for celebrating the season.

Whether you’re planning a relaxed dinner at home, hosting friends, or simply looking for new inspiration in the kitchen, this menu offers a beautiful balance of textures, colors, and flavors. Let’s take a closer look at each dish.

Starter: Green dragon vegetables

Start your meal with a vibrant plate of Green dragon vegetables, also known as royale chives. This fresh and flavorful starter combines the delicate taste of the greens with the savory depth of Jin Hua ham and the crisp texture of silver fish.
Garlic and ginger bring warmth and fragrance, while sesame oil and a touch of Chinese cooking wine add richness and complexity. The result is a dish that feels light, aromatic, and full of character.
It’s a wonderful introduction for anyone curious to explore the flavors of Malaysian cuisine, and a beautiful way to begin the meal with something both refreshing and original.

It was love at first bite with this Green Dragon Vegetable ( 青龙菜 ) aka Royale Chives ( 韭菜 ) when my students introduced me to this veggie some time ago. The Green Dragon Vegetable is commonly known as Chives and it is grown in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia.

Main course: Mysore fried chicken

For the main course, enjoy the bold and spicy flavors of Mysore fried chicken. Tender pieces of chicken are marinated with a fragrant blend of spices, including coriander and chili powder, giving the meat a deep, aromatic flavor.
Sliced onions and green chilies add freshness and heat, creating a dish that is lively, generous, and full of personality. Once cooked, the chicken becomes crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender inside.
Serve it with steamed rice, naan, or a simple side dish to soak up all those delicious flavors. It’s a satisfying centerpiece with an Indian-inspired twist that will leave everyone wanting more.

Dessert: Strawberry and mascarpone layer cake

End the meal on a sweet and elegant note with a Strawberry and mascarpone layer cake. This dessert is a celebration of strawberry season, with soft sponge cake, fresh fruit, and a smooth mascarpone cream layered together beautifully.
The strawberries bring freshness and natural sweetness, while the mascarpone adds creaminess and richness without feeling too heavy. Each slice is soft, fruity, and indulgent in just the right way.
Finished with a light drizzle of syrup, this cake looks just as good as it tastes. Perfect for a special occasion, a family meal, or simply when you want to end dinner with something memorable.
