Heart Cake for Valentine's Day. Recipe and tips to make a perfect Heart Cake.

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and if you want to do more than just give flowers or chocolates, this homemade heart cake is the answer. We will take as a base a pie crust (homemade or purchased) that we will cut into a heart shape, fill it with a silky mascarpone cream flavored with vanilla and finish decorating it with Kinder chocolates to make it look beautiful.

The key to this cake is in the contrasts: the crunchy texture of the dough, the softness of the cream and the irresistible touch of chocolate. Ideal for sharing on Valentine's Day, each bite is a reminder of how sweet love can be. More than a dessert, this cake is a declaration of feelings. So if you want to surprise your loved one with a romantic dessert that not only looks good, but is a real feast for the senses, this is your recipe. We explain, step by step, how to make it.

Ingredients and materials:

INGREDIENTS:

  • Decoration :
    • An assortment of your favorite chocolates

MATERIALS:

  • Bowl
  • Knife or scalpel
  • Heart template

Step 1: Shaping

Step 1: Shaping

Draw or print a half heart on an A4 sheet, cut out the shape and place it on the stretched dough. Use a knife to mark the shape of the half heart. Then reposition the template symmetrically and mark the other half of the heart. Tip: Do not remove the dough, simply draw the outline with the tip of the knife.

Do the same with the second dough. Once the heart shape is drawn, put the doughs in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. This will make it easier to remove the excess dough. After half an hour, remove the excess dough. With the oven preheated to 350°F/180°C, bake for 12 minutes. Remove and let cool.

Step 2: Make the mascarpone cream

Step 2: Make the mascarpone cream

In a chilled bowl (put it 15 minutes before in the fridge), mix the mascarpone, the very cold cream, the powdered sugar and the vanilla pod seeds (or vanilla extract). Beat at maximum speed until the cream is firm and well whipped.

Step 3: Assembly

Step 3: Assembly

Place the first heart-shaped dough as a base on the serving plate. With a piping bag, distribute the cream in small balls on the pie crust. Cover the cream layer with the second heart-shaped dough. Put more cream on top again.

Some practical advice:

Regarding the dough you can make a homemade pie crust or you can buy it at the supermarket, which will save you some time.

You can usepie crust but you can also opt for a sponge cake or even a puff pastry dough but as long as when baking you make sure that the dough does not rise. Here's the trick to get it.

Choose your favorite decoration. In this recipe we have used Kinder chocolates but you can use fresh fruits, meringues, edible flowers, candies? Maybe these ideas can inspire you: number cake with strawberries, number cake with exotic fruits.

Choose your favorite cream: You can replace it with whipped white chocolate ganache, crème mousseline, pastry cream or any custard, whatever you like!

Did you break the dough during baking? Don't worry, we'll cover it all up with the cream and no one will be able to see it ;-)
